  1. I really like the fact that you have gone and chosen a material such as bamboo, as it has many positive and environmentally friendly qualities. I can't really see any need for improvement, but maybe you could create an entire utensil set out of bamboo.

  2. I love how you have taken the everyday object of tongs and made them more beautiful. The transfer from the normal metal ones to bamboo is ingenious. You tongs definitely give pleasure to your identified market through materials and organic form, making them wanted to be picked up. The addition of your great craftsmanship makes, their appearance is more pleasurable. From what I can see there isn’t much to improve but I would suggestion maybe to add some sort of grip to soften it when handled.

  3. its fantastic to see someone gave so much thought into the material selection for their product. And by using bamboo, your design is completely recyclable, and yet you were able to craft a beautifully shaped tongs. it is ingenious how you use the property of the springy bamboo to make a tong, so the mechanism of the metal counter part, a spring, is not needed. which i think it'll help distribute the stress when a user uses the tongs.
the only concern i have, is what kind of finish would it have, so with continuous usage, it wont mould from moisture.

  4. I'm not very familiar with bamboo, and I was wondering if the bamboo would need to be finished so as to protect it from constant contact with a variety of wet, solid or acidic foods. Otherwise I do like your material choice for the aesthetic, functional and environmental benefits!

These tongs are so much nicer than clunky metal tongs, and they look easy to clean too! Nice work Simon!

  5. I remember trying this tool out when we displayed them all on Tuesday. I loved this. The amount of pressure you had to place on this product was just perfect! I didn't have to strain my weak arms like I usually do with metal tongs. It's so smooth and so simple!

  6. A really well thought out idea, this is a product that should definitely see its way to market. Having seen all of your test pieces, i know how much thought you put into the idea and shape of the tongs. The fact that the natural characteristics of the bamboo have been exploited in this design makes it that much more appealing. You stated that you would try and address the area where the tongs close as there does not seem to be too much grip there. Other than that, i cant see much that needs to be changed about this product. Well done.
